The past few weeks were a whirlwind with the house construction and we have now reached the point where the progress wont be quite as noticeable. Which is AwEsOmE for me because that means we are getting closer to getting things move in ready. However it makes pictures a little boring for you. Sorry!
Since the last house update, many things have happened. The roof went up just as planned and everything is very on schedule – dare I say – even slightly ahead of schedule. The shingles were torn off of the new roof and as of 2:30 pm TODAY the entire roof has been shingled! Yesterday the cement for the garage was poured and buffed and buffed some more until it was shiny smooth (they finished it up this morning and were packed up and gone by 6:45 AM!! Crazies). Some other things that have happened this week include: Geo thermal pumps are here, just not yet hooked up; in floor heating pipes installed in the garage; Water heater replaced under warranty (darn thing was making my showers stinky), electrical boxes light sockets are all placed – the wiring will happen Monday, and air vents are being installed as I type this. I don’t really know the plan for the next few weeks except that we should have windows very soon and the construction crew is done and everything from here on out will be all subcontracted work. Scary – but exciting!
I am finally getting to pick out details for the house like the siding, flooring, and cabinetry (that actually will happen next week). I have been narrowing down my idea boards on Pinterest and Houzz to get a feel for how I want the house to feel. I know exactly how I all of my shelving to look. What is kind of interesting is that this is almost like “Baby Nesting” on a GINORMOUS scale! The nursery isn’t even on my radar yet because if the house doesn’t get finished on time – I won’t be able to do anything with a nursery until after Baby Brown is born! And speaking of the baby – making big house decisions while suffering from Baby Brain and Preggo Hormones is pretty scary. I have heard horror stories of house remodels that were done during pregnancy that the mama ends up hating after the baby comes. I do not want that to happen…. lets be real – we can’t afford for that to happen. This all had to get done correctly the first time. No bold paint colors will be chosen – no crazy details at all. I’ve managed to avoid the deep desire to dye my hair purple for 24 weeks so far – I think I can manage to avoid a house disaster! I hope 🙂
Hopefully enough will happen this next week that I can give you another update very soon!
Until Next Time,
