Brown House Addition: Update 2

Aug 4, 2015 | Faith, House Addition, Mommy Bloggin

Hey everyone! I was going to wait until the end of the week to give you another house update but things are happening SO QUICKLY that I just couldn’t wait that long! First thing you should know – today has been so gorgeous that I have literally spent every moment outside. It is amazing. I have just been sitting out here watching all the work happening around me, working on my laptop allll day. I even took a nap on the front porch. You should try it.

This past week has been very eventful. We had beams and a floor the day after the footings were poured. Then after that the walls went up very quickly and we now have enclosed walls. Rumor has it that the whole house is being wrapped in TyVek tomorrow and then the roof could be on by the end of the week. We could even have SHINGLES by the end of next week.

Today the construction crew finished enclosing the garage and putting lots of support braces up to keep it all in place. The plumbing crew was also out here starting to drill/ bore the loops to get our geo thermal heating and cooling system hooked up. They should get done with it tomorrow! It is a remarkable process – and they took the time to teach me all about it today and even let me help! Hubby helped them during his off season last late fall/winter and now I know why he liked it so much. It is so interesting. I wont go into too much detail – I don’t want to bore you- but essentially the used this machine bore 6 holes 14-15 ft deep and about 250 ft across my yard and you cant even tell! Then they pull a tubing loop through and this is how my house will be heated and cooled. Water will flow through the tubes and since the ground temperature is usually about 65degrees my house will always be a nice temperature. We will have a heating system hooked up to it also so that we don’t freeze in the winter.

Last night, we invited our friends and church family over to help us bless our new home by writing bible verses on the frame. it was so very cool. My heart felt so full seeing people that we care about writing the Word of the Lord on our home. And some of our friends were pretty clever with their verses. So much bible humor 🙂 Example: Genesis 9:7 (“As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”) written above where our bed will be.  I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed Jacob and I with such an amazing group of brothers and sisters in Christ to be a part of our lives. I love them all so much.

Keep checking back for updates on the house and all the other fun things going on in our lives 🙂

    Until next time,

    Emily B.
